Sokenu Abayomi is a Lagos-based painter whose practice centres on colour, texture, and the lived human experience. Trained initially as an illustrator in advertising, his work carries a strong graphic sensibility, translated into layered compositions that move between figuration and abstraction. Built through short, deliberate strokes and luminous colour fields, his paintings explore themes of enterprise, adaptation, and cultural memory, allowing form and narrative to emerge through rhythm and suggestion rather than direct depiction.
