Mamus Esiebo (b. 1988) is a self-taught visual artist from Lagos, Nigeria with a strong affinity for technology. He pursued graphical design at City Unity College and holds a BSc in Entrepreneurship and Business Management from the National Open University of Nigeria.
Esiebo's visual art is influenced by the simplicity of life, reflecting his experiences in the bustling city of Lagos, Nigeria. He draws inspiration from the challenges of work-life balance, family expectations, and the quest for self-identity, which he transforms into idyllic settings. His artwork places subjects in scenes that portray a harmonious balance of "vital" energy.
During his formative years, Esiebo oversaw the creation and printing of limited edition prints for local artists in Nigera. His experience in print production gave him a deep understanding of the technical and commercial aspects of art which motivated him to transition into a full-time artist. His creative process relies on digitally crafting his artworks with applications like Adobe Illustrator before translating them into acrylic paintings.
Mamus Esiebo has exhibited his artwork in Nigeria and abroad, including countries like the USA, UK, Germany, and Jamaica. In 2022, his work was featured in the African Contemporary Auction Sale with Artcurial on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, France, and his art is included in the collection of The Fondation Gandur pour l’Art in Geneva, Switzerland
