Wellspring (2025) is a limited-edition giclée print by Nigerian contemporary artist Yewande Ambeke.
The work depicts a seated figure gently cradling a child within an open green landscape, evoking themes of care, nourishment, and emotional grounding.
Rendered with Ambeke’s signature fluid, cyclical brushstrokes, the figures appear softly formed rather than fixed, their surfaces vibrating with warmth and presence. The surrounding field and distant horizon create a sense of openness and quiet protection, allowing the scene to breathe. Rather than focusing on detail, Ambeke uses texture and movement to suggest intimacy, vulnerability, and stability.
Rooted in the artist’s ongoing exploration of mental well-being and support systems, Wellspring functions as a visual metaphor for renewal and emotional sustenance. The central figure becomes a source — of comfort, resilience, and continuity — while the landscape offers stillness and space for reflection.
Printed on museum-grade Hahnemühle German Etching paper using archival giclée methods, each print is signed and numbered by the artist. Wellspring is ideal for collectors drawn to contemporary African art that speaks quietly yet powerfully about care, connection, and inner balance.
