Edozie Anedu presents Les Comédiens Presents Last Supper as a limited edition archival print from his symbol-heavy, confrontational practice.
Originally created in 2023, the work reimagines the biblical Last Supper as a crowded stage scene, where figures compress into a charged interior of colour, gesture, and repetition. Faces read as masks rather than portraits, suggesting performance, role-playing, and the tension between belief and spectacle.
Drawing on Anedu’s early exposure to Catholic imagery, the piece reframes ritual as social theatre. Aggressive brushwork, layered grids, and graffiti-like marks introduce humour alongside unease, questioning authority, collective behaviour, and inherited structures.
Printed as an archival giclée on Ilford Cotton Textured paper, this edition preserves the density, movement, and raw energy of the original painting, making it a compelling statement for contemporary, lived-in interiors.
