About the Artist

Ayobami Adelaye is a multidisciplinary artist whose work moves between abstraction and figuration to explore emotional intensity and the complexity of modern life. Born in Ibadan and raised in Lagos, his visual language is shaped by the rhythm and contradictions of the city, translated through expressive brushwork and saturated colour. After beginning his career in graphic design, Adelaye transitioned fully into painting, developing a raw, gestural style that balances humour with vulnerability. Now based in the UK, his recent work reflects themes of displacement, exhaustion, and psychological tension, using distorted figures and improvisation to turn introspection into a shared emotional experience.
