Yewande Ambeke is a Lagos-based painter whose practice explores the inner life of the human mind through fluid, emotive abstraction. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, she creates abstract figurative works defined by cyclical brushstrokes and a sense of movement, allowing figures to appear both intimate and expansive. Rooted in intuition and the immediacy of the painting process, her work reflects on mental rest, well-being, and the need for support and safe spaces. Drawing on shared emotional states such as joy, fear, hope, and anxiety, Ambeke’s paintings position art-making as a therapeutic act and a quiet invitation to pause, feel, and reflect.
