We are excited to introduce you to Prince Gyasi, a French photographer whose work is making waves in the world of art. Born in Paris to Ghanaian parents, Prince Gyasi's unique perspective and multicultural background have shaped his vision as a photographer.
"The Arrival" by Prince Gyasi (2022)
When I came across Prince Gyasi's works I was in love with the bright colors that he used and the familiar themes that I have seen living in West Africa. I like color and that is what I am used to to seeing here in Nigeria. Africa is not black or meant to be black - it is meant to be colorful and vibrant. It is exciting to see him portray that.
With a passion for capturing the world around him, Prince Gyasi's work reflects his deep appreciation for both the beauty and the complexities of daily life. From capturing the hustle and bustle of city streets to the quiet moments of solitude initially with his iPhone, Prince Gyasi's photos are a window into the world as he sees it.
"True Vine" by Prince Gyasi (2020)
Gyasi started taking pictures in 2011 and bought his first iPhone in 2014 which is the primary tool he uses in creating his art pieces. He began with snapshots of friends, family and models from his hometown of Ghana and then realized he could seriously use his phone as an arts creation tool, as a means of expression.
He used an iPhone to shoot in a way to distinguish his art from other visual artists and photographers and to break the codes of singular and elitist art. His work is all about conveying feelings through colors and giving the floor to the people that are left aside from the society. He indeed considers his use of colors as a source of therapy to his audience. Motherhood, Fatherhood, childhood can be considered as his most characteristic themes.
What sets Prince Gyasi apart from other photographers is his use of color. His images are bursting with rich hues and striking contrasts, creating a sense of vibrancy and energy that is truly captivating. Whether capturing the vibrant markets of West Africa or the moody skies of Paris, Prince Gyasi's photos are a feast for the eyes.
In September 2021, Prince was commissioned by GQ Magazine to shoot Wizkid for its October issue in Accra, Ghana. Wizkid was crowned “King of Afropop” by GQ Magazine after this shoot which was styled by Karen Binns.

Prince Gyasi's talent and vision have earned him a reputation as one of the most exciting photographers of our time. He was recently tapped up by French fashion house Balmain for an electric reinterpretation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's "Le Petit Prince" with its message of acceptance and discovery.
So, if you're a fan of photography, be sure to check out Prince Gyasi's work. His unique perspective and stunning use of color are sure to leave you inspired and captivated.
