Raymond Akenbor Eghosa Nigerian, b. 1982

Raymond Akenbor Eghosa (b. 1982) is a painter, experimental artist and former art educator based in Benin City, Nigeria.

 

Raymond is a graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, Nigeria with a diploma in Painting & General Art, and holds a post-graduate degree in Art Education from the National Teacher’s Institute of Kaduna State, Nigeria.

 

Raymond's progression has seen a range of mediums explored such as painting on textiles; mixed media art and collage making to his current acrylic canvases with his striking pointillism technique. He has cultivated a desire for discovery and for creation since his youth. His early works incorporate African size and shapes and fused fashion motifs. Eghosa’s paintings depict the beauty of Africa, which is inspired by his immediate environment and the historic Benin culture. This includes poetry, ancient sculptures, music and striking fashion. His style is inspired by master artist Victor Ekpo, who is renowned for his use of symbology from Africa.
