Mamus Esiebo Nigerian, b. 1988

Mamus Esiebo (b. 1988) is a self-taught Nigerian visual artist. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria and is a graduate of City Unity College in Lagos State.

Esiebo's work focuses on the lives of ordinary people in Nigeria, addressing issues such as self-identification in a society dominated by media, politics, family difficulties, and overworking to survive.

Esiebo deconstructs his colourful experiences from being raised and living in Lagos, Nigeria, where he highlights the lack of work-life balance, family expectations, and the desire for self-identity in such a fast paced environment. His themes are set in situations that portray a harmony of what he desribes as "vital force."

Esiebo's trademark pinstripe and bright colors are often used to show apparel on his subjects and highlight the surfaces of items placed in his scenes. His scenes are contructed first digitally before the aryclic work is created. Esiebo likes to portray everyday interactions and the intricacies of relationships in our comfort zones.
