Ganiyat Abdulazeez (b. 1996) lives and works in Lagos Nigeria. She studied at the prestigious Yaba College of Technology, graduating with honorary recognition
Abdulazeez’s experimental approach to painting has led her to a style that incorporates nature into the skin of her forms. Her obsession with the coral plant (Jatropha Multifida), has led to the creation of her signature texture on skin, which infers the many healing properties of the single-trunked shrub.
Her works are partly an obeisance to the healing powers of nature and partly a portal of remembrance for the coral plant that had a great impact on her childhood.
