Djakou Kassi Nathalie (b. 1975) is a distinguished Cameroonian ceramicist currently residing and creating in Lagos, Nigeria.
From her earliest years, Nathalie's love for art and creative expression guided her towards a profound connection with clay. She refined her ceramic expertise through a three-year scholarship program at the Institut Universitaire J. Ndi Samba in Yaoundé, Cameroon, culminating in her graduation in 1998.
With over two decades of dedicated practice, Nathalie embarked on her artistic journey immediately after completing her university studies in 1998. In the same year, she assumed the role of an instructor at the prestigious Institut de Formation Artistique in Mbalmayo, Cameroon, the sole art school in Central Africa. During her tenure, she introduced the innovative "Material Technology" course to the school's curriculum.
In 2004, Djakou joined the Centre d’Art Appliqué of Mbalmayo, Cameroon, where she served as a ceramicist and the chief manager of the ceramic studio. By 2011, she ascended to the position of vice president of the craft association in her local government, a role she held for three years.
Her artistic journey led her to Nigeria in 2015, where she continued to enrich her craft, participating in numerous group exhibitions.
Nathalie's artistic creations are inspired by the intricate dance between nature and humanity, delving into the often tumultuous interplay between the two forces.
Acknowledged for her collaborative projects and contributions to group exhibitions alongside renowned artists, Nathalie has garnered acclaim and a series of awards for her work.
